American-Made Since 1983.
DMP Awnings started with a racer who wanted a better awning for his own rig — and never stopped building them. Four decades later we still machine, sew and print every custom trailer awning under one roof in Little Falls, MN, and ship them to teams all over the country.
Built by a racer, from day one.
DMP has built American-made awnings since 1983 — the same values then as now.
Dean Dubbin came up the hard way in bracket racing before stepping into a Top Alcohol Dragster — and like every racer, he knew exactly what a weekend does to gear that isn't built for it. A cheap canopy folds in the wind. Legs and poles clutter the one workspace you have. Hardware fights you when you're trying to turn the car around between rounds.
So DMP built something better: a heavy custom awning that hangs off the trailer, keeps the work area clear, and goes up and down fast. Word got around the pits the way it always does — one team saw another team's rig and wanted the same thing. Since 1983 that's been the whole business. We build awnings we'd trust on our own hauler, and we ship them nationwide to teams who run just as hard.
- Founded & owned by a racer. Dean Dubbin still owns and runs the shop.
- American-made since 1983. Four decades of building for the track.
- Custom fixed-frame awnings. Purpose-built for race, hospitality and display trailers.
- Shipped nationwide. Little Falls, MN to your pits, wherever they are.
Everything in-house.
Most awning jobs get split across a metal shop, a print shop and a sewing room, with nobody accountable when the pieces don't line up. We do all of it ourselves — which is exactly why the finished build is dialed-in.
- CNC machining — clear-anodized billet brackets cut to spec.
- Metal fabrication — oversized aluminum A-frames welded to race. See our metal fabrication.
- Sewing — fabric covers, one-piece zippers and storage bags stitched here.
- Dye-sublimation printing — sponsor graphics printed into the fabric with large-format printing.
No outside vendors. No handoffs. No finger-pointing. One shop owns the build from raw aluminum to finished cover — see the full shop capabilities.
The measure of it.
We run our own awnings.
DMP Racing isn't marketing — it's our proving ground. Dean owns the program and Kirk Wolf drives, and the trailer that hauls the dragster runs the same awnings we build for you.
Every weekend the car runs, our rig eats the same wind, heat and hard interstate miles yours does. When something doesn't hold up the way we want on our own hauler, we fix it on ours before it ever ships on yours. That's a feedback loop a catalog company simply doesn't have — the car teaches us, the shop builds it, and you run the result. Explore the awnings we build or browse the project gallery.
Built by racers, for racers.
It's more than a tagline — it's how the shop actually works. When the people building your awning are the same people who tear down a rig at midnight and load out in the rain, the details get right on their own.
That's why our standard build is heavier than most shops' upgrade — a free-hanging 12–14 ft span with no legs in your work area (wider or leg-supported available), A-frames from 1.5″ x 2″ x .125″ wall aluminum, clear-anodized billet brackets, stainless hardware, and a one-piece zipper with a fabric storage bag included, not up-charged. We build it because we'd want it on our own trailer. Then we ship it anywhere in the country and stand behind it — give us a call before, during, or after your build.
Four decades in. Still racer-built.
Tell us about your trailer and how you run it — we'll machine, sew, print and build an awning dialed in for it, and ship it anywhere in the country.
