18–24 ft enclosed haulers with 6.5–7 ft sidewalls are everywhere in sportsman pits — and they’re exactly where a stock awning goes wrong.
- The short-wall problem. A low wall puts the mount line low. Hang a fixed-position part there and the canopy either sits in your face or pitches so flat it won’t shed water.
- Machined to your wall. We cut the brackets and frame to your measured wall height, not a catalog average — so the canopy deploys at a height you can stand and wrench under.
- Pitch set on the build. Because the frame is fabricated to your rig, the working height and pitch are decided at the shop — not discovered in the pits.
- No legs to duck around. The free-hanging 12–14 ft span means nothing between the trailer and the far edge of the shade — roll the car straight under.
- Door clearance kept. Side and access doors on the awning side are measured in, so they swing free with the canopy up or down.
- Same heavy build. Low trailer or tall, every frame is oversized 1.5″ × 2″ × .125″ wall aluminum with clear-anodized billet brackets and stainless hardware.

Stackers, transporters, and 53 ft semi haulers run 8.5–10 ft walls and beyond. Up there the problem flips: the mount point is high, and a generic part leaves the fabric flapping way above the work.
- Height-matched brackets machined so the canopy mounts high on the wall and still hangs down at crew working height.
- Upper doors & lifts cleared. On stackers we offset the frame around upper-deck doors and lifts so everything opens with the canopy deployed.

- Backed mounting. Billet brackets with proper wall backing so a big span stays put on a tall wall, season after season.

Wall Height at the Mount Line
Ground to where the canopy will bolt on. This one number drives the bracket machining and the deployed working height.
Door Swing Clearance
Every door on the awning side — where it is, which way it swings, how far. The frame gets offset so nothing is ever blocked.
Ground-to-Floor Height
Tells us how the trailer sits — drop axles, lifted rigs, and goosenecks all change where the shade needs to land.

What measurements do you need for a tall or low trailer canopy?+
Three things get the spec started: your wall height at the mount line, the swing clearance of any doors on that side, and the ground-to-floor height of the trailer. Our measure & install guide walks each one, and we confirm every dimension with you before anything is built.
Is a race canopy the same thing as a race awning?+
Yes — same part, two names. Racers say race canopy, race awning, pit canopy, or trailer awning interchangeably. A DMP build is a fixed aluminum frame that bolts to your trailer wall, not a free-standing pop-up canopy tent.
Will I still be able to stand and work under the canopy?+
That’s the whole point of height-matching. The free-hanging 12–14 ft span has no legs or poles in the work area, and because the brackets are machined to your wall, the canopy hangs at a working height whether the trailer is low or tall.
